February 4 and 5: Locks

Our normal routine has been that Nate will get off work at Marathon at 3 and then go over to the house while it is still light to work on it. I get off work a bit later so I'll either go over there and work or I'll go to the apartment and try to keep that somewhat clean and put together. Plus I can make supper. If I go to the house to work, it seems like we resort to eating out for supper or eating really late at night. Our house only has a microwave at this point. There's no fridge, but luckily the garage is freezing so we can use that as our fridge.

One of the first things Nate accomplished was changing the locks. He picked out a very nice brushed nickel look that we'll carry throughout the house. After a few obstacles, Nate got the old locks out and rekeyed every lock to the same key. Our driveway hadn't been shoveled all winter so there were layers and layers of snow and ice covering the whole thing. He bought a shovel and ice chipper right away and went to work. After clearing the first lane, he would allow the sun to melt a bit and then he'd chip away at it. Each day our driveway would get a little bigger and now that's all said and done we can fit three cars side by side. Perfect for company.

  1. Amanda - this is Wayne. Tell Nate to check his facebook messages. I am curious how you re-key locks to be the same. That is something we want to do in our new townhouse condo. Thanks. And congrats on the house. It's cool to read about all the stuff you're doing. :)
