February 7, 2010: Carpet

My family and I spent a lot of the day visiting with my aunt, eating pizza, and playing the Wii. We got to the house around 3:30 and Sam, Dad, and Nate set about removing all the carpet and pad in the whole house before Sam went back to UMD. This was very necessary. Although the carpet was structurally sound and a nice color, it had stains in every room - even in the closets (how do you get stains in the closet?). They pulled it all up so we can start over with clean carpet. We are planning to live here for a while, so we are getting berber carpet that will still look good years down the road. So, the basement living room will be laminate and the upstairs living room will either be laminate or hardwood (carpet now because they used particle board subfloor and we wanted to preserve the oak). While they were pulling up carpet, Mom and I went to Home Depot and bought a ton of ceiling paint, primer, white paint, and looked at potential colors for rooms. Then we had everyone over to our apartment for Nate's ribs. The big job starts tomorrow.
